Sustainability is meeting the needs of the current generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable efforts in the City of Pinole include sustainability and climate change mitigation strategies throughout its plan and policies. The plan contains a separate 'Sustainability Element,' to serve as a guiding document to identify ways in which the City can have a positive impact on, and adapt to, climate change. Pinole is dedicated to being a livable city for all working with sustainability initiatives throughout the county and City that address energy efficiency and renewable energy, water and air quality, recycling, and land use planning.

Eco-volunteer opportunities are abundant in Pinole and easily accessed through The East Bay Regional Park District which manages thousands of acres of land and maintains over 1,250 miles of trails. In order to protect the park's resources, volunteers are needed. You will learn about land stewardship and resource conservation. Help improve the quality of life for people and wildlife treasures.
