Chandler residents should be proud of their city in terms of leading the way in environmental actions. The City of Chandler takes sustainability and stewardship of taxpayer dollars seriously and strives for efficiency in operations while reducing costs and environmental impacts.
The Green Building Program is a major part of Chandler’s sustainability focus, as buildings account for a large portion of the environmental impact. Buildings consume approximately 40 percent of the world’s energy and account for more than one-third of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
Solar- Chandler became the first city in Arizona to recognize solar energy systems in its municipal zoning codes.
Water -The City has a comprehensive water management program that emphasizes water conservation and reuse by establishing an evaluation process for commercial and industrial projects that require large amounts of water to ensure the community receives the most benefit for the water these projects receive.
Energy- Chandler is joining cities around the state in converting street lights to (LED) lighting.
Throughout the year, volunteers are needed to help with City projects. The Let's Pull Together Volunteer Program evolved to connect Chandler residents in need with those who wish to serve. The program assists neighbors who cannot bring their homes and properties into compliance with City Codes.
