The Naval Operational Center at Luke Air Force Base has stepped up to the mark in sustainable practices by building the first LEED Platinum (the highest level of LEED certification) facility for the U.S. Navy and the first on Luke Air Force Base. The facility allows the Navy to consolidate the operations of 12 different locations, significantly reducing their carbon footprint.
Sustainable Strategies
Members of the base can join the E-Waste Collection Events on base which allow Airmen to recycle their old electronics. Partnering with outreach programs such as The Arizona Recycling Coalition and the Valley Wide Recycling Partnership, the primary goal is to educate and train Airmen. Contact HERE or a unit environmental coordinator located within your squadron for more info.
Luke’s recycling program continues to focus on strengthening partnerships within the local community by ensuring sustainability in our natural resources.
